We wanted to truly experience Iceland and decided to explore the Ring Road, which is the country’s main road (aka Highway 1). This scenic drive circles the island nation in 830 miles and takes you through some of Iceland’s must-see locations.
After researching whether to rent a car or camper van, we elected to hire the camper from Happy Campers and are so happy with our choice! The Happy Camper van came equip with virtually everything we needed for our journey such as a gas stove, pots and pans, linens, pillows, and an extra heating system for the cold nights. For a little extra money, we rented an inverter (highly recommended) and camping chairs (for star-gazing and viewing the northern lights)!
With our steady steed chosen months before our arrive to Iceland, Kyle and I planned all the places we hoped to visit over our two week journey. We packed our days because there was so much we wanted to witness! During our trip, we ended up deviating from our plans slightly since we desired to spend more time in some the the most beautiful and majestic places.
